Meghan Markle called on women to “be the visionaries of their own lives” as she accepted a feminist award in New York.

Accepting her Woman of Vision award at Manhattan’s Ziegfeld Ballroom, the Duchess of Sussex told guests, ‘It’s just never too late to start.’ You can be the visionary of your own life.’

Meghan, 41, added: “You can embark on a path where what you repeat in your daily ministries, in kindness, in intercession, in grace and in fairness, becomes the very things recognized by the next wave.” women, young and old, who will also choose this moment to join the movement and make our vision of a just world a reality.”

Her husband Prince Harry, 38, was pictured alongside her at the glamorous party, where she wore a gold dress by Johanna Ortiz worth $1,850 (£1,480).

Tickets to the event cost $1,500 (£1,200), while tables cost a minimum of $15,000 (£12,000).

Meghan was presented with her honor by icon Gloria Steinem, who co-founded Ms. Magazine, the first national feminist magazine in the US.

The Duchess opened up about how the magazine played a role in her upbringing – she said she would “come home after a day of school, settle in”, enjoy her “dinner on the TV tray” and watch the publication.

She thanked Gloria, 89, “for the inspiration you are, for your mentorship, your wise advice, your extraordinarily sassy sense of humor and of course your incredible friendship”.

She then congratulated the other winners on their “important and meaningful work”.

She added: “Although I was familiar with most of your work prior to tonight, nothing could compare to the focus, determination and energy I sense from each of you, especially as we all bear witness to your elegance and strength.’ of your strength.’

The awards website, hosted by the Ms. Foundation for Women, describes the mother-of-two as a “feminist, advocate for human rights and gender justice, and a global role model.”

It continued, “Meghan is also a passionate advocate for family rights and an investor in vibrant women-founded companies.”

“Meghan is recognized as one of the most powerful and influential women in the world, topping lists such as TIME Magazine’s Most Influential People, Financial Times 25 Most Influential Women, Variety Power of Women and British Vogue’s Vogue 25.”

Meghan has stayed out of the headlines lately after missing out on King Charles III’s coronation. attending as it was her son Prince Archie’s birthday – but Harry was quick to travel in and out of the UK for the event.
