Queen will MISS Epsom Derby to ‘move’ during the anniversary weekend.
The Queen is no longer planning to attend the Cazoo Derby in Epsom on her Platinum Jubilee weekend.
The 96-year-old monarch is said to be represented by her daughter, the Princess Royal, during her milestone celebrations
racecourse instead, the Sunday Times reported.
The derby on Saturday 4 June was set to be a personal highlight of the Queen’s four-day anniversary celebrations. The Queen’s hopes for a runner in the Derby were high, but her noble stallion Reach For The Moon was not ready in time after a setback.
However, he is expected to have a leadership opportunity at Royal Ascot.
The head of state, a passionate horse owner and breeder, was to be greeted on the course with a special guard of honour, including up to 40 of her past
jockeys present.
But the newspaper revealed it is now “increasingly unlikely” that the monarch will go to Epsom.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment, saying the Queen’s attendance at events would only be confirmed closer to the time.
