McDonald’s workers praised for using ‘too much’ caramel on fraps

A McDonald’s employee shares how much caramel sauce she puts on Frappuccinos in a viral TikTok, despite her manager allegedly berating her for saying it was too much.
The clip was uploaded by TikTok user Yesenia (@ihearttkwasi), in which she demonstrates how to make McDonald’s caramel fraps in response to a user comment. The user’s complaint? How McDonald’s execs pretend to add lots of caramel “comes from their paychecks.”
First, Yesenia reveals how the cup is soaked with caramel sauce on the inside before pouring the mixed frap mixture into the cup. She then tops it with whipped cream before squeezing extra caramel sauce on top as her manager yells “it’s too much” in Spanish from the off. Yesenia confirms this in the caption, writing, “My manager literally screamed and said it was a lot.”
During an interview with the Daily Dot, Yesenia shared that she has been working at McDonald’s for over a year. She said she’s still adding extra drizzle as customers “ask and pay for it” despite receiving negative reaction from their managers.
“Most managers don’t allow employees to add as much sauce to the frappe as I do. When that happens, they call you and get upset,” she shared via TikTok direct message.

The video was viewed 3.8 million times as of Saturday, with viewers praising Yesenia for how she makes the caramel frappuccinos.
“You’re the real MVP, that’s what we mean when we say extra Carmel,” praised one viewer.
“That’s what I mean when I say extra Carmel,” repeated a second.
“That’s what I mean when I say extra caramel drizzle,” agreed a third.
However, there were some who claimed that adding extras actually affects managers’ paychecks.
“Because it gets their checks out lol. You get bonuses for the cost of groceries,” claimed one user.
“It’s coming out of our paychecks and we get yelled at if you want diabetes that bad, buy Walmart’s $2 products and do it yourself,” said a second.
“Bc they get a bonus if they go under budget,” wrote a third.
On the other hand, there were managers who claimed that they give their customers extra spices.
“I’m a manager at McDonald’s and there’s never too many things where the customer only gets what they paid for,” one person commented.
“I’m not a manager and ALWAYS add extra caramel/mocha to EVERY drink. a few customers only come when I’m there because I connect them,” said a second.
So do managers get raises if they cut food costs? According to Indeed, “Some companies might base their bonus structure on overall company performance, giving managers a percentage of profits. Others may take a more individual approach, looking at each manager’s performance and contribution to the organization, perhaps in reducing costs or increasing sales.”
