In a viral TikTok video posted this week, a McDonald’s employee shows how they approach customers who ask for “unsalted” fries in an attempt to buy new fries.
“I purposely leave the fries on top of the oil after they’re done in case someone asks for no salt when they just want the fries fresh,” wrote TikTok user @haleylehane1.
As the latest in a popular genre of videos revealing the views of fast food vendors, TikTok alludes to “cheat“Which some customers use to get their fries fresh: Ask for them to be salt-free. TikToker’s one-time hack in response to a customer request has been viewed more than 250,000 times as of Friday.
“’UM tHeSe fRiEs aReN’t fReSh’ ok because you asked for no salt, not fresh.. next time use your big girl words,” the TikTok user captioned the video.
However, some users in the comments were annoyed with this employee’s clever attempt to hack customers.
One user said: “All have a job, can’t get fresh fries”.
“You can! If you ask for fresh fries <3," the employee replied.
One user showed solidarity with staff, expressing frustration with customers trying to hack the system. “I don’t even work at McDonald’s but I love this, I hate it when customers think they’re working with the company,” they said.
“The queen of dropping fries back in the oil ✨✨✨,” supported another user.
But the worker replied that they didn’t put the fries back in the oil like other McDonald’s employees did. TikToks have a different virality.
“Not me, that’s annoying,” they said.
Some, however, justified their claim of “salt-free” fries.
“I always ask for no salt and a staff member once told me ‘these are still fresh’. Idk if they are new. I don’t like salty fries,” one user said.
“They have [too] lots of salt, that’s why I asked no salt! But my mom uses that excuse to make fresh fries,” another said.
“I feel bad for people who just really like to control their salt portion LMAO,” said a third, echoing others in the comments, who claimed to be asking for “no salt” for good reason. due to health.
