McDonald’s customer tries to call manager. It backfires

A user on TikTok has gone viral after trying to call a manager who was “out of uniform” and “handled everything in the kitchen.”

According to TikTok user Lee (@anxious_yolo), they had gone to a McDonald’s location in Vancouver, British Columbia, when they observed this manager exhibiting behavior that Lee did not approve of.

“MC Donald!! Retrain this manager. Why is she touching everything in the kitchen? Put on your uniform first. Basic training required!!” Lee wrote in the text that overlaid the video.

In the caption, they add: “McDonald… this is NOT okay. It’s an open kitchen… She was rude to the staff too.”

Lee’s anger appears to be directed at a woman wearing a winter coat and carrying a bag into the kitchen. In the video, she can be seen moving a stack of trays before walking away.

While Lee appeared distraught over the situation, commentators saw little wrong with the events depicted in the video.

“You’ll lose your mind when you find out that all chefs don’t actually wear gloves,” wrote one user.

“You understand not wearing gloves when properly preparing your burger,” repeated a second.

McDonald’s itself has confirmed this. In a 2020 tweetthe official McDonald’s Canada account noted that gloves are not always required for people in the kitchen, while claiming that wearing gloves can do more harm than good in some cases.

“There are certain tasks that require our employees to wear gloves and others that don’t,” McDonald’s Canada wrote in the tweet. “When handling food, gloves can pose more of a risk than protection.”

On TikTok, users claimed that not only was there nothing wrong with the events depicted in the video, but that the situation depicted was incredibly common.

“Worked at McDonald’s and my manager always did,” claimed one user.

“Oh great heavens. How dare she help her staff as soon as she arrives,” added another.

Other users speculated that Lee might just not know how the hospitality industry works.

As one user summed it up, “Some people have never worked in the service industry and it shows.”
