McDonald’s customer gets Chick-fil-A-Mac and cheese with order

If you’re buying fast food from an established franchise, it would be pretty confusing to see a menu item from another chain in your pocket.

While that sort of crossover food episode is less likely with a Pizza Hut and Taco Bell combo, one TikToker is going viral for claiming that his drive-thru order at McDonald’s came with Chick-Fil-A macaroni and cheese was delivered.

In a text overlay on the clip, user Joceye (@Jocelyneespino_) writes, “We went to McDonald’s and they put down a Mac n Cheese from Chick Fil a Confused [as fuck].”

In the video, a woman pulls a tub of what appears to be Chick-fil-A macaroni and cheese out of a bag of McDonald’s food.

“Um, why is there mac and cheese in our, in our… what?” she says to the drive-thru attendant, who is holding a plastic tray out the window. It contains other items as the employee instructs customers to “take the whole”.

It is not uncommon for a company to have multiple business units. KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and the Habit Burger Grill are all owned by YUM! Brands. However, McDonald’s is owned and operated by McDonald’s, and Chick-fil-A is its own company run by the Truett family.

The Daily Dot contacted Joceye via TikTok comment and McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A via email for more information.

TikTokers who saw Joceye’s post speculated as to why the Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese was in the bag. Some accused her of putting it there herself and trying to prank her viewers. Others said she simply “asked too many questions.”

Some viewers thought this was a case where the employee took a colleague’s lunch and pocketed it either as his own prank or to get revenge on someone for doing a menial job.

A few TikTokers cared less about the Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese and more about the fact that the drive-thru attendant appeared to be handing customers the entire jar of sauce.

“The guy either quit or was having a bad day,” wrote user @uncertifiedpharmacist. “Did he actually give you the sauce container?”

Another possibility worth considering is that the item was part of a “meal swap” between fast-food workers at neighboring restaurants. Eight-time Mr. Olympia winner and retired bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman said in his documentary how while working at Domino’s Pizza, he and his colleagues got tired of eating pizza every day and eating with the other fast-food workers who exchanged it are tired of eating the same thing at work.
