McDonald’s app user says it’s become social media for her

A TikToker claims her McDonald’s app has become her new favorite social media app and encourages other people to use it.
The video comes from creator @corashircel and has garnered more than 545,000 views on the platform since it was posted last Thursday.
“I’m not afraid to admit that I use the McDonald’s app as a social media platform,” she says in the introduction. “Like I wake up and check this shit.”

She continues, “As with the daily deals, you know I’m getting this. There was a free cheeseburger today and I devoured it. I just don’t understand how people go to McDonald’s and don’t use the app. It is actually a sin and you should go to jail for it.β
The video is accompanied by a caption that reads “People who get it, get it,” which hints at another level.
But many were willing to embrace a pro-McDonald’s message.
“I know how much a big frying pan costs because I can get it for a dollaraaaaaaaaaay,” one enthused, echoing the fast-food chain’s campaign for large fries orders that cost just $1 through the app.
However, that led to one commenter replying, “They took that away from me.”
Another, revealing a serious level of dedication, remarked, “I’m about to use up some of my 32,000 points.”
“I haven’t paid for coffee in a year,” boasted another, explaining, “Points baby.”
Another advised: “The offers are fantastic, the points are really meaningless. Get the deals folks.β
Opinions blossomed throughout the comments section.
One simply said, “It’s an amazing app.”
Someone else countered that, noting, “You ruined my life by removing the nugget meals from the offerings.”
It also led to others touting other fast-food apps, including a Dairy Queen-centric account that stated “DQ Mobile App has 0.85 Blizzards for the next 2 weeks, you’re welcome” – which prompted the creator to do so saying that she would “go as soon as possible.”
At least one person thought the creator made an effective TikTok spokesperson for McD’s, perhaps to expand their existing TikTok account.
This commenter told the creator, “They need to sponsor you ASAP!” and then sent a message to McDonald’s saying, “Don’t fiddle with the bag! Get your new speaker!β
One person already thought it was a spokesperson’s job, noting, “If this is an ad, it’s very effective.”
And someone else helped make this case, noting, “That just made me want to get the McDonald’s app.”
The Daily Dot has reached out to the creator and McDonald’s for comment.
