BOSTON (WHDH) — MBTA announced Thursday that it will add an additional stop on the Silver Line in Chinatown as well as additional shuttle service to the area during the Orange Line’s shutdown.
The Silver Line station, part of SL4, is located at the intersection of Surface Artery and Kneeland Street and will be serviced at 9pm starting Friday…
The complimentary shuttle service connects Government Center, Chinatown and Tufts Medical Center with buses running every 30 minutes from 5am to 7am and 8pm to 1am.
The Chinatown shuttle stop is on the corner of Washington Street and Essex Street and the Tufts Medical Center stop is on Washington Street.
The announcement followed a public meeting in Chinatown on Thursday, where city leaders and MBTA officials heard concerns from Chinatown residents about the impact of the closure on the neighborhood.
The MBTA said that due to the limited capacity of the shuttles and traffic congestion in the area, they encourage using the Green Line, cycling, or walking as an alternative to shuttle service.
