Mason Mount has waited ‘months’ for Chelsea contract talks amid Manchester United-Liverpool links | Soccer

The 23-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 16 assists last season in what was his most prolific campaign to date for the Blues.
The homegrown midfielder is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge but his representatives were surprised by the club’s lack of urgency in tying him to a new contract.
From the club’s point of view, there is no urgent need to talk as Mount’s current deal runs until 2024.
But Fabrizio Romano says Mount has waited “months” to start negotiations and that has alarmed the likes of United and Liverpool.
Sanctions against Roman Abramovich following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have prevented Chelsea from holding player contract talks, but the club are expected to speed things up after Todd Boehly’s consortium finalizes its takeover.
Mount is currently making around £80,000 a week at Stamford Bridge and he can expect a significant increase when he signs a new contract.
Chelsea would loathe to lose one of their homegrown stars to a Premier League rival, but United and Liverpool have already conducted discreet inquiries to determine Mount’s position on leaving the club.
