Marsden Park REDcycle soft plastic dump exposed
A large stockpile of soft plastic has been discovered in north-west Sydney as secret bundles from the failed REDcycle program continue to be found across the country.
recordings off Nine messages shows hundreds of bales of soft plastic at Marsden Park, marking just one of 19 deposits across NSW.
REDcycle, which collected soft plastic at Coles, Woolworth and some ALDI stores, suspended its soft plastic collection program on November 9 after being overwhelmed by demand and has since relinquished responsibility for about 11,000 tonnes of residual waste.
Coles and Woolworths have now taken responsibility for the stocks and are now working to dispose of the plastics.
Footage from Marsden Park follows a report from this imprint last week, which revealed secret stashes were still being found across Australia.
REDcycle has ceded control of 32 plastic dumps in Victoria, NSW and South Australia to Woolworths and Coles just a day before the company was declared bankrupt by the NSW Supreme Court at the end of February.

But plastic stocks have been identified at 14 locations since the handover, including for the first time several hideouts in Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia.
“To date, we have identified a total of 44 locations where REDcycle has stocked soft plastics without our knowledge,” said a spokeswoman for Coles and Woolworths last week.
