Mark Ronson remixes Kacey Musgraves’ Elvis cover

For the elvis Soundtrack, Kacey Musgraves revealed a cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” last June. Now Baz Luhrmann’s House of Iona/RCA Records label has shared a version of the upcoming Elvis Soundtrack Deluxe Edition with Mark Ronson.

While Musgraves’ rendition in 2022 was piano-driven and retained the song’s emotional vulnerability, Mark Ronson gave it an exuberant twist. Her vocals are accented by a throbbing, catchy beat, turning the classic song into a hopeful, rollicking anthem.

Musgraves’ final record was critically acclaimed in 2021 star cross. A highlight was “Breadwinner”, which dealt with sexism in interpersonal relationships.

“I’m not the only one who has experienced this and I won’t be the last,” Musgraves explained of the 2021 track. “It always makes it easier to spread vulnerable thoughts when you know they’re finding a connection become. As more women have risen to power, it has been interesting to see the impact. It is important for men to realize that there are so many things to bring to the table besides money. If you’re dating a woman who earns more than you, maybe look at what you can contribute emotionally, mentally, or in the household.”
