Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls Gay Senator ‘Groomer’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) on Tuesday dubbed a gay politician a “groomer” in response to concerns over recent violence against the LGBTQ community.

After the shooting at a Colorado gay club over the weekend that killed five people, California Senator Scott Wiener (D) denounced the use of the word “groomer” as an anti-LGBTQ slur.

The word “groomer” is categorically an anti-LGBTQ hate word. It’s super homophobic/transphobic,” he said. “It plays into the smear that LGBTQ people are pedophiles. It’s no different than calling someone a fag. If you call someone a groomer, you are inciting violence against LGBTQ people.”

Just two days later, Greene decided to tweet Wiener exactly what he said in a quote-tweet.

“Pass my Protect Children’s Innocence Act to prevent communist zookeepers like this one from using state government power to take children away from their parents so a for-profit medical industry can chop off the genitals of these deranged children before they’re even old enough to care.” to elect.” Greene tweeted.

The Child Innocence Protection Act, introduced by Greene in August, would make it a criminal offense, among other things, to perform gender-affirming grooming on a minor.

In response to Greene, Wiener criticized the legislation and statements by congressmen.

“According to Marjorie Taylor Greene, I’m a ‘Communist groomer.’ Pretty clever mix of McCarthy redbaiting and gaybaiting. For the record, their Protect Children’s Innocence Act comes damn close to banning trans people from existence. Oh & Kevin McCarthy will strengthen them again.”

Greene’s response to Wiener was shortly thereafter bombarded by both supporters and critics, further inflaming an already contentious issue.

The Colorado shooting followed other recent anti-LGBTQ violence, such as the arson attack on an Oklahoma donut shop earlier this month after a drag-themed art installation took place there.
