Rashford went into the season after shoulder surgery but his body language was questionable as were his performances as the 24-year-old lacked his usual strength.
Tottenham have a long-term interest in Rashford, with Antonio Conte keen on signing the England international.
But United have dismissed Spurs’ advances after Rashford told the club he wants to stay at the Theater of Dreams.
Ten Hag has always worked meticulously with underperforming players and during his time in Amsterdam has helped change the fortunes of the likes of Dusan Tadic, Sebastian Haller and Daley Blind.
Rashford lost his place at left flank to Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho last season.
But he is determined to reclaim his place in order to secure a spot in England’s World Cup squad for December’s tournament.
