TikTokers are no strangers”manifestation audios‘ or sounds available for use in the app and intended to bring good luck or fortune when used in videos.
But some users in the app are draw attention to the consequences these kinds of jokes: are young, impressionable users tricked to think that with a TikTok audio can actually change their lives in one of their videos.
The latest Manifestations audio is an electric guitar cover of a song by a Philippines-based band Kalein– what wears no responsibility in the development of audio as joke. A cover of Calein’s song “Umasa” is now announced as audio that when used in a tick tock video, will Get your crush to contact you. The cover of “Umaasa” has been used several times 400,000 videos.
Many of the videos using the sound say it worked.
“He texted me while I was filming this,” wrote @prettyfunnyhotgirl420 in the overlay text of her tik tok with the sound. Likewise another user shows a text they received while creating a TikTok with the sound.
Others say the audio worked for them, even though it has its powers didn’t work exactly as they had hoped.
“I did this,” wrote @ki113rk1tt3n their videos Overlay text related to the use of the sound. “And the wrong ex texted me.”
And TikTokers are “paranoid [about] miss opportunity” using the audio to summon her crush, so even if the audio doesn’t work for her, They still use the clay.
Why it matters
As explained by the dots Nicole Frio in her characteristic to manifestation sounds, these audios are gimmicks: “By making the manifestation seem as quick and easy as uploading a video to TikTok, the hopeful viewer is helping the sound go viral, thereby contributing to the promise that a legit life hack to make all your dreams come true less than two minutes the upload time.”
And “manifestation experts” are benefit from the scam also in terms of views and engagement for their videos. While I am not judging whether collective manifestation works, a Social media madness certainly seems closer King 2012 as a personal spiritual work out.
The consequence of this – except constipated TikTok Feeds full of manifestation videos with inconspicuous noises—are young users of the app.
“These trends are like this incredibly harmful [especially] for young, impressionable minds,” wrote @thefatellefanning in the overlay text of her video about the trend. “Nothing will happen magically.”
which is true. tiktoks misleading youth (or even younger kids) to think that the way the world works based on TikTok audios is harmful.
Ultimately, manifestation TikToks are modern chain mail.
