Erik ten Hag will finally strengthen him This summer’s Manchester United squad whose arrival at Old Trafford is reportedly ‘imminent’.
The Red Devils are yet to make a single addition to a squad that finished sixth last season and was weakened by the departures of Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Lee Grant.
Ten Hag gave the United board a list of names at a meeting in Amsterdam in early May and the club focused on signing their number one target, Frenkie de Jong.
Barcelona are targeting £73m for the Netherlands international and have turned down an opening offer from United worth around £52m.
But United are confident they will get a deal across the line due to the need to sell the club According to Goal, deals at the Theater of Dreams are now “imminent”.
Christian Eriksen could be the first signing while Tottenham are now backing out of a move for the Dane.
The 30-year-old is available on a free transfer and although Brentford are vying to extend their stay in north-west London, United retain the upper hand.
Eriksen is expected to announce a decision at the end of June when he returns from a two-week holiday break and United are optimistic they have won the race.
Ajax winger Antony is another target and the Brazilian is keen to join Ten Hag in Manchester.
The Dutch giants want around £50m for the 22-year-old and won’t stand in his way should he decide to leave Amsterdam.
