Erik ten Hag is ready to cash in with James Garner Manchester United are looking to raise around £15m by sacking the 21-year-old midfielder.

Garner returned to Old Trafford this summer to get promoted to the first-team, but injury limited him to just one appearance on the club’s pre-season tour.

The midfielder enjoyed a fantastic loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season, helping the club return to the top flight for the first time this century.

Forest have repeatedly tried to get Garner back on loan but United have blocked his interest as Ten Hag was keen to see the England Under-21 ace up close.

United are desperately tight in midfield after losing Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Andreas Pereira and only signing Christian Eriksen as a substitute.

But the club are now ready to sell Garner if they receive a suitable offer for the Englishman to boost Ten Hag’s transfer budget.

United are reported to be valuing Garner at around £15million and it’s possible they would use the money to help in their attempt to lure Frenkie de Jong away from Barcelona.

United agreed a £63m fee for the Dutchman six weeks ago but they are struggling to persuade the Netherlands international to leave the Camp Nou.

De Jong owes around £15million in deferred wages to Barcelona, who have refused to pay him the debt if he leaves the club.

United are also working on a deal to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus, who is valued at around £15million.

The club are yet to agree personal terms with the Frenchman over a move to Old Trafford and Rabiot is said to be targeting around £160,000 a week.
