Two viral videos of a grocery store customer vehemently insisting that grocery store employees enforce policies limiting the number of items in an express checkout line have garnered more than 700,000 views online.
Videos posted by @tallnall show an elderly Caucasian man arguing with a clerk while the TikToker filmed the interaction at a Publix grocery store.
What started as a vocal complaint from the customer turned into an argument with the Publix cashier, who suggested that if he had a problem with cashiers accepting customers with more than 10 items in use the expressway.
In the first video, the customer repeatedly shouts “10 or less” while waiting in line.
The second clip shows him checking out while still arguing with the clerk. “If you don’t like it, you don’t have to come through my line,” demands the cashier.
Another employee asks what the problem is and the cashier explains the man’s problem. “They had about 50 items, ten are there,” says the customer, pointing to the sign at the express checkout.

Some commenters sided with the man who made the complaint, writing that the other customer should have respected the limit or that Publix staff should have enforced it better.
“He should weed out the customer who brought a lot more items,” wrote one commenter. “Cashiers do not have the power to turn customers away. My goodness.”
“If there are 10 or less and you have at least 20, they should be told to move to another line or take down the sign,” wrote another commenter.
“I’m on the customer side, they shouldn’t have a sign saying so and the clerk is getting smart, I prefer to check out myself now,” said a third.

Others supported the cashier and the person filming telling the man he was wrong or noticing the man talking to the cashier.
“I work at Walmart and we can’t turn down a customer on the expressway,” wrote one commenter. “But I love how you faced him!”
“Some of you really think that customer service reps should just sit there and be mistreated with a smile because it’s ‘our job,'” wrote another commenter.
“I cashed in and I’m sick of people treating people like machines,” wrote one commenter. “This man doesn’t respect the person who helps him.”
