David Moyes is reportedly determined to re-sign Jesse Lingard for West Ham following the departure of the Manchester United attacking midfielder.

The Sun also reports that the manager is also keen on sacking several players he deems not good enough for the Irons, with Said Benrahma facing the chopping block.

Lingard joined West Ham for the second half of the 2020/21 season after falling out of favor with then-United boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer and would make a huge impact, scoring nine goals in just 16 games for East London and five assisted club.

He was linked with a permanent move to London Stadium last summer and Newcastle in January but eventually stayed at Old Trafford despite making few appearances in his final season with his boyhood club.

It’s no surprise that Moyes is still keen to take on the 29-year-old free agent because although West Ham had another great season under the Scot, a lack of firepower meant the side fell at a crucial point in the season ran out of breath year.

At one point it seemed the Irons might be in contention for the top 4, but after failing to sign a striker in January goals dried up and they were relegated to sixth in the league by United while also being knocked out of Europe were league semifinals by eventual winner Frankfurt.

This has prompted Moyes to reassess his entire summer squad and several players could be left out as striker Benrahma risks being sold.

The 26-year-old’s form has blown hot and cold for West Ham since joining from Brentford two years ago and a total of 11 goals and six assists from 48 games may not be enough to save the Algerian international.

But one player Moyes is determined to keep this summer is star midfielder Declan Rice, who continues to be linked with a move after turning down a new £200,000-a-week long-term deal.
