The 37-year-old has told United he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer to join a club capable of challenging in the Champions League.
Ronaldo is also said to be disillusioned with United’s approach to the transfer window, realizing that both Manchester City and Liverpool have already stepped up.
The Portugal international has one year left on his current contract and United initially told the striker they had no intention of selling him.
But according to UOL, with the support of new manager Erik ten Hag, United’s hierarchy would be ready to sell Ronaldo for around £13million.
Chelsea have been offered the opportunity to sign Ronaldo this summer and it is understood he would be open to a move to Stamford Bridge.
But while Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is open to the move, Thomas Tuchel would also need to be convinced Ronaldo’s arrival would fit into his plans.
Ronaldo was due to return to United for pre-season training on Monday but stayed in Portugal for “family reasons”.
He is also not expected to travel with United’s squad for their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia.
The United players fly to Bangkok on Friday while their first game is against Liverpool next Tuesday.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has contacted potential buyers but several clubs have already dropped out of the race, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Bayern board member Oliver Kahn said on Wednesday: “As much as I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greats, a transfer would not fit into our philosophy.”
