The Red Devils on Tuesday announced the £13million signing of the 22-year-old, with Malacia becoming the club’s first signing this summer – and the first of the Erik ten Hag era.
Van Persie has seen plenty of left-backs in recent years after coaching at Feyenoord and believes United have made an excellent signing.
“Hey Tyrell, this is Robin,” he said in a video posted to Twitter. “I want to congratulate you on your fantastic move to Manchester United and on this big moment in your career.
“You have shown day after day with confidence, great talent and hard work – and I saw that up close – that dreams come true.
“So to all the Red Devils fans, not only are you getting a very talented full-back, you’re getting a fantastic person.
“So be nice to him, support him in good times and bad, he will do absolutely anything for you. I’m sure it will be a great connection together.
“On behalf of all the Feyenoord fans and people, thank you Tyrell for what you’ve done, for all those years, from a young kid when you came to the youth academy, up to now, up to this fantastic moment.
“You are a real role model for the next generation. Thank you for all your efforts and everything you have done for our club and I wish you all the best. Good luck man.’
Although Malacia hasn’t spoken to Van Persie when he was considering a move to Old Trafford, the former striker-turned-manager had already made a huge impression on the defender about what life at United is like.
Asked if he spoke to either Van Persie or Tahith Chong, Malacia told the club’s website: ‘No, I haven’t spoken to anyone about this decision. I’ve spoken to Robin in the past and I’ve played with him and talked to him about his experience in Manchester.
“I’ve always been in touch with Tahith after he moved to England, so yeah, it’s always felt good here.”
Asked if Van Persie had said good things about United, Malacia added: “Yeah, everything was good. He says they are the biggest club and the feeling was good and he loved it here.
