Man Utd join Barcelona and Chelsea in Robert Lewandowski transfer race | Soccer

New Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his attacking options this summer and has identified Uruguayan sensation Nunez as a top target.
But Nunez, who scored 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica last season, is on the verge of an around £85million move to Liverpool.
That has prompted United to look at other options and, according to The Sun, they have emerged as potential suitors for Polish legend Lewandowski.
Lewandowski has admitted he is dying to leave Bayern Munich this summer and join Spanish giants Barcelona.
The 33-year-old enjoyed great success at Bayern, scoring 344 goals in 375 games and helping the club to eight Bundesliga titles, but is keen to pursue a new challenge elsewhere.
However, a move to Barcelona is not guaranteed as the La Liga club – who are still struggling financially – will have to sack players to raise the funds to sign Lewandowski.
They could earn around £80m for Frenkie de Jong though Earlier this week, Manchester United rejected the opening bid for the Dutch midfielder.
If Lewandowski grows impatient or a move to Barca looks unlikely, United will reportedly rush in and try to sign the veteran in a deal similar to the one that saw Cristiano Ronaldo return to Old Trafford last summer.
But United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea are also interested in signing Lewandowski as they prepare for Romelu Lukaku’s potential departure. The Belgian struggled last season and wants to return to Inter Milan.
Lewandowski confirmed he wanted to leave FC Bayern Munich at the end of last month, saying: “One thing is for sure today, my story with Bayern is over.
‘After everything that has happened in the last few months, I can’t imagine a further good cooperation. I know that a transfer is the best solution for both sides.’
He reiterated his desire to move to another club this week, adding: “I just want to leave Bayern. Loyalty and respect are more important than work. The best way is to find a solution together.
“Something died in me, I want to leave FC Bayern to have more emotions in my life.”
