Man Utd boss John Murtough ignored Ralf Rangnick’s advice from Cristiano Ronaldo | Soccer

The 37-year-old has applied to leave Old Trafford less than a year after his sensational return to the club.
Although Ronaldo impressed on a personal level last season, United endured their worst season in Premier League history and his arrival arguably came at a collective cost.
Rangnick quickly realized this after taking over the club on an interim basis last December, and he felt compelled to choose Ronaldo despite his reservations about his suitability for his system.
He felt it was unrealistic to drop the striker while he was at club and Athletic’s claim that he had told Murtough and Arnold that the best thing would be to sell the former Real Madrid man.
United claim Ronaldo is not for sale and they plan to keep the veteran as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford.
And that despite Erik ten Hag having similar reservations about Ronaldo, but the club hadn’t planned to sign a new centre-forward, preferring to focus on other areas of the squad.
Christian Eriksen is expected to agree to a three-year deal after verbally agreeing to move to Old Trafford.
