PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (AP) — Police shot and killed a 25-year-old man in a standoff after announcing a search for a man believed to be armed and dangerous, officials said Monday.
There was a heavy police presence along Main Street in Presque Isle on Sunday evening and smoke was billowing from the building.
The seriously injured man could not immediately be identified.
However, Presque Isle Police said it was in a search announced earlier in the day for a 25-year-old man. The man was wanted for a firearm incident.
An officer who fired his gun has been placed on leave pending an investigation by the attorney general’s office.
