PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (AP) — Police shot and killed a 25-year-old man in a standoff after announcing a search for a man believed to be armed and dangerous, officials said Monday.

The seriously injured man could not immediately be identified.
However, Presque Isle Police said it was in a search announced earlier in the day for a 25-year-old man. The man was wanted for a firearm incident.
An officer who fired his gun has been placed on leave pending an investigation by the attorney general’s office.
