Man shot dead after disobeying orders from would-be carjacker in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A man was shot dead after he obeyed orders from a suspected carjacker to park his vehicle in South St. Louis to give, had declined.

The shooting took place at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday at the 4700 block of South Spring Avenue in the Dutchtown neighborhood.

Investigators say the victim, a 20-year-old man, was approached by two men in a gas station parking lot. One of the suspects called for the victim’s vehicle. He refused and was then promptly shot in the left leg.

Both suspects ran away from the scene after the exchange of gunfire. A witness drove the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.
