Man flaunts tech to get free breakfast at Hampton Inn

One TikToker took to the platform to show how he could get free breakfast at the Hampton Inn on his commute – and commenters wondered if it really could be that simple.

The video is courtesy of the creator @midtacoma and has garnered more than 1 million views since it was posted on March 8th. It answers a comment that wants to prove that this is something the creator was actually able to do.

The YouTuber begins the video with an exterior shot of a Hampton Inn with an on-screen caption: “Proof you can get a free breakfast every day on your commute.”

The creator then moves along the breakfast stations at the hotel, grabs a biscuit, some bacon and juice, and then returns to his truck, presumably to partake in the stolen food and drink.

A number of commentators praised the creator’s initiative.

“That’s smart,” remarked one. “I’ll start right away.”

Another argued, “A lot of this food goes to waste anyway, so I actually think that’s a good thing.”

This led the creator to claim that he was “helping the community” through his actions.

Someone else advised, “Just act like a normal person,” and the creator added, “Trust is key.”

One claimed to work at a Hampton Inn and found it wasn’t that hard to pull off, noting: “I used to work nights at a Hampton and started at breakfast and I can tell you that nobody pay attention to who gets breakfast, and when it’s over everything would be thrown out.ā€

Some commenters were upset with the video – but not so much at the theft aspect as at the potential it could ruin a good cause for those who do.

“Then they start making you use a study key to even get breakfast because people abuse it,” one said.

Another simply said, “Damn, don’t be a snitch. Wie bruh just tell everyone why don’t you.”

One expressed a touch of moral conflict, saying, “I’ve always thought about doing this…but my inner self told me not to.”

Another, who was the angel on this commenter’s shoulder, reinforced that inner self by saying, “Because you’re not an idiot.”

One wondered if the Creator wasn’t blowing his own cover by asking, “You don’t think you know your stuff by now?”

And another claimed it doesn’t work, noting, “I tried it and they charged me $12.50.”

The Daily Dot reached out to the creator via a TikTok comment and Hampton Inn via a contact form on parent company Hilton’s website.
