Man dies in hospital after rescue destroyed by Northern Beaches

A man has died after falling into a crack on Sydney’s northern beaches last week.

Robin Kadyan, 22, was swimming with friends at North Curl Curl Beach on Sunday August 6 before they were thrown into the sea by a tidal wave. He died at Northern Beaches Hospital on Friday, police said.

A website set up to raise funds for his funeral in India said he fought for his life for several days but suffered “irreversible” brain injuries.

“You may know ‘Robin Kadyan’ as your friend or brother… His family needs your support at this difficult time to organize his funeral in India,” the post reads.

The rescue involved members of the Surf Life Saving Club, the Water Police and officers from the Northern Beaches Police Command, and five helicopters.

When police arrived, two men and a woman had already crawled out of the water.

A 21-year-old man was rescued in an inflatable lifeboat by members of the Surf Club while Kadyan was pulled lifeless from the water by the Westpac Life Saver Helicopter. A report will be prepared for the coroner’s information.
