Man dies in hazard reduction fire

A man died from severe burns after being trapped by a fire Saturday while fighting a fire at his property in the central west of the state.
Emergency services were called to The Bogan Way in Forbes around 11.30am after the man suffered severe burns.
Police said the 75-year-old man was carrying out a hazard reduction burn on one of his paddocks with the help of members and family of the NSW Rural Fire Service when he was trapped by the fire.

Paramedics and RFS members treated him at the scene before he was flown to the Royal North Shore Hospital, where he died Saturday night.
Central West Police set up a crime scene at the property and forensic officers were investigating the case.
Police said initial investigations indicated the circumstances of the man’s death were not suspicious. An investigation will be conducted and a report prepared for the coroner.
