Man cuts popsicle so he doesn’t have to suck it, sparking debate

A viral and controversial TikTok video sparks a debate among viewers about how a man eats a popsicle properly.

In the clip you can see TikTok inventor @stizzymacktype cooking. He has a blue popsicle and a knife in his hand. Additionally, as the clip plays, @stizzymacktype’s child can be heard saying, “This is how my dad eats his popsicle… He’s not sucking his popsicle, no sir.”

The TikTok creator wrote a homophobic caption along with the TikTok video, which racked up over 3 million views, 403,500 likes and over 4,000 comments: “I don’t suck on popsicles 🚫 That’s Gee Aye Why.”

Many viewers gave their opinions on the popsicle tactic in the comments.

“You’re home with your family bro chill πŸ˜‚ how girls know not to eat bananas or popsicles around guys,” replied @cloudy_dreamz420.

“It’s never that serious πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚” commented @bunnybuszz and received 65,900 likes.

“Never caught deficient,” one joked. Another remarked, “Haha I eat mine in a bowl with a spoon.”

In his defence, @stizzymacktype replied in the comments section that he was just having a fun moment with his daughter.

β€œπŸ˜‚ People here are too serious about these hate comments. Just me and my daughter in the kitchen cooking and enjoying each other’s company πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ,” replied @stizzymacktype.

Joke or not, the clip is rooted in outdated male norms that regularly become viral flashpoints. In connection with this, popular YouTuber Kevin Smith passed away this week. His rhetoric is responsible for making men around the world think sharply about gender roles, fat phobia and misogynistic views that have sparked controversy on social media. As NBC News noted, “His views, which many on social media perceived as offensive to black women, often sparked outrage. Last month he was slammed for a video in which he called unmarried women over 35 ‘leftovers.’
