Man connects to spokesman for ‘noisy’ upstairs neighbors in viral TikTok prank

A TikToker has gone viral after trolling his noisy upstairs neighbors over their Bluetooth-connected speaker.

Matt O’Brien took to TikTok to share how he pranks his neighbors when they play loud music: by creating a song of his own, connecting to their speaker, and playing the tune.

The video, which has now racked up 3 million views and over 400,000 likes, shows O’Brien inside his home while the text overlay reads, “My upstairs neighbors are noisy again and I can still connect to their Bluetooth speaker.”

Noise and music can be heard in the background, believed to be from his upstairs neighbor.

Then he goes over to his computer and opens a file called “loud neighbor songs”, selects and plays neighbor song #3.

To the tune of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, O’Brien sings the lyrics: “Your music sucks, please turn it down, also pick up after your dog.” He plays the song once for TikTok and then connects to it His neighbor’s speakers, where you can hear the song in the background. The neighbor then bangs the ground angrily and the camera pans away as O’Brien says “Oh shit.”

This isn’t the first time O’Brien has tried to tell his neighbor to calm down with a musical prank. In June 2021 he set to music a similar song to Edvard Grieg’s In Hall of The Mountain King and played it on presumably the same neighbor’s loudspeaker.

Commentators found the prank hilarious, with one user saying, “That’s the level of pettiness I aim for.” Others agreed, calling the prank “legendary” and “brilliant.”

However, some commenters sided with the neighbors, saying, “So they can’t hear their music because you don’t like it?”

Another agreed, saying: “That’s funny but dude it’s the middle of the day and I could barely hear their music even when you were quiet.”

The Daily Dot reached out to Matt O’Brien about this story via TikTok comment.
