Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish has poked fun at a nonsensical tweet from a football account that claimed he had a row with manager Pep Guardiola in Sunday’s win over West Ham United.

The England international was part of the side that won 2-0 at London Stadium, with new signing Erling Haaland scoring both goals in a win, suggesting City could potentially improve even further with a traditional striker playing up front.

The champions already have an advantage over Liverpool after the Reds drew with Fulham on Saturday and they were in complete control on their own trip to the capital, dominating the game against David Moyes’ side from start to finish.

But that didn’t stop the Sport Bible Twitter account from causing trouble. The profile posted a tweet on Monday afternoon with screenshots of match footage of Grealish speaking to Guardiola on the touchline, with the additional caption: “Jack Grealish spotted telling Pep Guardiola three minutes after Man City beat West Ham Has.”

However, the screenshots only appeared to show the two men talking to each other, and Grealish was quick to end the nonsense with a short but pointed reply.

“Shit, everything you just wrote didn’t happen [sic]’ Grealish replied from his Twitter account. “What a shitty page! He gave me tactical advice, ask him yourself if I replied.” The Sport Bible tweet was subsequently deleted.

The former Aston Villa man, who signed for City from Aston Villa for £100million last summer, has previously taken to social media to deliver harsh retaliations to allegations of disputes with coaches.

In January, Grealish responded to the Daily Star’s claim that he had fallen out with Villa manager Dean Smith by writing: “Well that’s a lie. Why should I argue with my manager? he told me to calm down. [sic]’

Manchester City’s season resumes with a home game against Bournemouth on Saturday.
