Man charged with murder after mother and two daughters die in apartment fire

A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman and her two daughters, who died after a fire broke out at their Nottingham home.
Fatoumatta Hydara, 28, and Fatimah Drammeh, three, and Naeemah Drammeh, one, were killed.
Ms Hydara was taken to Queen’s Medical Center after the fire at Fairisle Close at 3.17am on Sunday.
Her two children were taken to the same hospital and pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
Jamie Barrow, 31, has now been charged with the murder of Ms Hydara and her daughters, Nottinghamshire Police said this evening.
He is being held overnight to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Deputy Chief Constable Rob Griffin of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Our thoughts go out to the family at this incredibly painful time, as well as to the communities affected by this most tragic of incidents.
“The grief this family has gone through is beyond comprehension.
“Major detective teams have worked tirelessly with specialized search units and forensic experts to understand the full circumstances behind this premeditated fire.
“Following this investigation, we have charged a suspect with triple murder. The family is aware of this development and I would like to sincerely thank them for their patience and understanding as we do everything in our power to seek justice for Fatoumatta, Fatimah and Naeemah.’
Fatoumatta was once described as “a very happy, vivacious woman who wouldn’t have the heart to hurt a fly”.
Her husband, Aboubacarr Drammeh, paid tribute to his wife and daughters.
He said: “Fatoumatta had lived a short but very beautiful and fulfilling life. Fatoumatta, a former volunteer, was a very happy, spirited woman who wouldn’t have the heart to harm a fly.
“We would like to thank the Ahmadi Muslim community in Nottinghamshire, the Gambian community, local neighbors and all these well-wishers for their continued support at this difficult time.
“Me and my parents-in-law are left without daughters, grandchildren and nieces. I will miss my family deeply.”
