Man charged in boy’s death remains in hospital

A man accused of stabbing a three-year-old boy in a unit in Sydney remains in custody while he recovers from his serious injuries in hospital.
Nathan Vikatos, 45, was due to appear in Parramatta Magistrates’ Court on Saturday for murder but the case was adjourned for two months after a brief mention.
He is accused of killing the boy after police found his body at a unit on Washington Avenue in Riverwood around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
A relative had called the police out of concern for the couple’s well-being.

Vikatos was also found at the home and was being treated at the scene for his self-inflicted injuries.
He underwent surgery and was in stable condition on Thursday before being arrested the following day and formally charged in hospital.
Police believe the boy’s mother died a few years ago.
The matter was adjourned to Burwood District Court on August 9.
