Lyon have made a big move in the race to sign Manchester United target Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.
The Dutchman played for the Eredivisie side last season and made 50 appearances in all competitions. As a result of these performances, he has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs.
United manager Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen his squad ahead of next season and has reportedly put the 22-year-old high on his list of summer goals.
However, according to The Mirror, Lyon have stolen a march in the race to sign Malacia after they submitted a £12million bid.
The report went on to say that Newcastle United are also interested in the player, with Feyenoord’s valuation estimated at £15m.
The Red Devils are keen to sign a new left-back this summer to rival Luke Shaw, whose form has slumped over the last season.
Alex Telles is Shaw’s current understudy but since arriving in 2020 he has failed to impress at Old Trafford and has only made 30 league appearances.
Brandon WIlliams, on loan at Norwich City last season, could reportedly be sacked if the club receive a £10million offer.
Earlier this month, Malacia hinted he was ready for a big move should it happen this summer.
Speaking to Dutch broadcaster RTV, he said: “I’m definitely ready for the next step.
“But first I want to focus on the Orange team and play here. I feel like everything happens for a reason and everything is written.
“When it’s the right time, it’s the right time. I don’t really think about it, it’s in the back of my mind. But I don’t want to comment on that.’
