Lyft driver pretends to have a flat tire to kick customer out

A video posted by TikToker that allegedly shows them being thrown out of a Lyft has drawn heavy criticism from viewers on the platform.

The video posted by Ricky Williams (@rickywilliams303) showing his Lyft driver claiming he has a flat tire and the driver “better get out” of his car has garnered over 264,000 views on TikTok.

The video also shows the driver telling Williams to “get the hell out of his vehicle” and that he will call the police about the driver.

“You must be crazy to stand in front of someone’s car,” says the driver. “I’m not your Lyft driver anymore.”

When the driver asks what he means by that, the driver continues to yell at him as he gets back into his car. Then he drives away despite the flat tire.

It is initially unclear why the driver reacted in this way. The Daily Dot contacted Lyft via email and Williams via comment on the video, as other means of contact were unavailable.

“Remember the time my Lyft driver saw me coming outside and suddenly had a ‘flat tire,'” reads a text overlay on the video.

Several viewers wrote that they were glad Williams didn’t ride with that driver, as the man didn’t seem safe around.

“Honestly I am God you are safe,” wrote one commenter. “It doesn’t feel like it was safe to stay in his car.”

“You don’t want to ride him anyway, please don’t,” said another user.

“This is crazy,” added a third. “Must have been a traumatic experience to be yelled at like that by this crazy man. I hope you sent this to LYFT.”

Others shared having had similar experiences with unwilling or confused drivers using ride-hailing apps.

“I got on a Lyft once and the driver told me to get off because my destination was too far,” wrote one commenter. “I said I’m sorry and got out.”

“@Lyft this is one of the reasons I don’t use Lyft anymore… it’s so sad,” shared another.

“One time me and my cousins were waiting for an Uber at 2am and when he saw there were 3 black girls he said no I can’t,” claimed another user.
