Fanny packs have enjoyed the reputation of being absolutely uncool for about 20 years. But for a certain demographic of athleisure wear fans, they’re back in a big way. Lululemon’s Everywhere Belt Bag has garnered a cult following, as evidenced by this viral TikTok, which features a group of women carrying the exact same bag.
The video, posted by TikToker @paigeegan4, shows a group of women in Lululemon-style workout clothes queuing at a store. Some of them are sporting the same fanny pack, and as the camera zooms in on their outfits, the TikTok audio exclaims, “She looks like any other slut!” So far in 10 days, this clip has attracted a staggering 2.3 million views while on TikTokers debate the surprising comeback of the humble fanny pack.

To be clear, Lululemon’s Everywhere bag isn’t a fancy reinterpretation of the fanny pack concept. It’s a boxy, utilitarian polyester bag with zipped pockets and a plain strap. Very few people would accuse him of looking cute or stylish. And while $38 is pretty cheap for a well-known brand, you can definitely find cheaper fanny packs elsewhere.
However, this one is still going strong and has inspired numerous TikToks on how ubiquitous it is.
Over in the comments section for @paigeegan4’s TikTok, some people were quite sneering. “Y’all…this is literally a fanny pack that we already agreed was never cool,” wrote one commenter. “I’m not like other girls,” joked another, scoffing at the idea of women dressing alike (as if groups of men wearing nearly identical outfits aren’t seen all the time).
However, many people defended the practicality of fanny packs. “Until we actually get clothes with pockets to fit items I’ll never be embarrassed,” one TikToker wrote, highlighting why the Lululemon bag (a unisex item) is so popular with women specifically.
When you’re used to wearing tight clothes with no pockets, most of the time you need a bag – and many purses just aren’t very practical. Sure, these people could just buy a cheap fanny pack at any department store. But they don’t. Lululemon branding allows people to feel comfortable wearing what is otherwise notoriously uncool. And that’s why this bag is all over TikTok.
