Luke Lembryk was murdered months after showing “wads of money” on a Tinder date with cocaine, the jury said

The prosecutor alleged that Price spoke to others at Rizk’s home about Lembryk, telling them he had “money and cocaine,” and those involved in the conversation spoke of using the friend “as bait.”

The Crown alleges that after seeing Lembryk’s cash, Price “passed on” that information to Take on the night of December 6, 2019.

“That led to Mr. Nehme effectively recruiting Mr. Taufahema and Mr. Rahim to pull off this robbery,” Taylor said.

He claimed Nehme received “specific guidance” over the phone from Price to locate Lembryk’s unit, including her suggestion that they could use FaceTime. Nehme and Taufahema reportedly broke into the unit through a screen window in the early hours of December 7 “to rob the deceased of his cash.”

Taylor said Lembryk was confronted and stabbed multiple times. His mother “was awakened by a loud knocking” in the living room and was allegedly attacked by two men as she opened her bedroom door before they ran away.

The prosecutor said CCTV captured three people running and Rahim’s Ute with their headlights off, while also hearing a motorcycle, allegedly Nehme’s Harley-Davidson, starting and screeching.

The court heard Lembryk come into his mother’s room, bent over, clutching his stomach and covered in blood, and said: “I’m going to die, Mum, I’m going to die”.

The court heard that Rahim and Price also pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering in the company of Lembryk’s mother to steal in company and causing assault during the break and in company.

The jury was informed that Taufahema pleaded guilty to both of those counts, while Price pleaded guilty to the lesser offenses of burglary and entry with intent to steal. Rahim has pleaded guilty to assault with intent to rob society.

The five defense attorneys are expected to deliver their opening speeches on Wednesday. The trial will continue before Judge Richard Button.
