Love Island’s most explosive week returns to our screens in just a few hours and to say we’re excited would be an understatement.
That’s right, it’s time for Casa Amor.
The surprising, but not-so-surprising, twist tests the romances between our favorite islanders while they’re separated and tested with a new batch of sexy singletons.
Will Gemma Owen stay loyal to Luca Bish? Or will Tasha Ghouri be tempted to deviate from Andrew Le Page?
Casa Amor lasts about three to four days, just long enough to turn heads and send the infamous postcard to the main villa that always causes some drama.
Contestants are then asked if they want to stay with their original partner or team up with one of the new singletons, leading to heartbreak, tears and arguments bigger than the two Ekin-Su Culculoglu has already set in motion .
Let’s take a look back at some of the most shocking Casa Amor moments in Love Island history…
Dani Dyer broke down in tears after Jack Fincham’s ex-girlfriend walked into Casa Amor – 2018
2018 Islanders Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham may have won the series, but it hasn’t been an easy ride.
In fact, it was one of the most disturbing moments Love Island viewers have faced, so it’s no surprise it’s sparked 2,525 Ofcom complaints.
That unusually gruesome moment came as Dani was shown misleading footage of Jack reacting to his ex-girlfriend Ellie walking through the doors of Casa Amor, leading viewers to accuse the show of emotionally manipulating her.
Although he may have said ‘oh my god’ a few times nothing actually happened and Dani and Jack actually stayed true to each other, enjoyed an emotional reunion a few days later and ended up becoming the winners of the series and walking with theirs Shares of £50,000.
Shaughna Phillips’ iconic ‘Congratulations darling’ after being pied by Callum Jones – 2020
The very first Winter Love Island saw some of the most scandalous Casa Amor moments, including the time Callum Jones passed Shaughna Phillips only to get one of the best comeback lines of all time.
Shaughna became an overnight icon of the program after being dumped by Callum, who had changed his priorities by spending time with Molly Smith at Casa Amor.
But instead of doing the standard thing and breaking down in tears after the news, Shaughna immediately hit back with an unforgettable response.
“I’m happy for Callum. I should never have trusted a scaffolder anyway. Congratulations, honey,” she said, instantly becoming the true winner of the 2020 series in our eyes.
Later in a chat with Metro.co.ukShaughna admitted she didn’t anticipate how big those two little words would get, and joked that she should “copy” the phrase after it was spattered onto T-shirts and tote bags.
“I don’t even know where the ‘congratulations, honey’ came from,” she told us.
“There are very, very dramatic calls between the two of them [the words]and I was about to say “Congratulations”…
“And then it was like, ‘Be petty, be petty,’ and then I said, ‘Hun,’ just because it just popped into my head.’
Georgia Steel’s “I’m loyal babes” based on Josh Denzel wasn’t so loyal – 2018
Another iconic quote to come out of a Casa Amor reveal was Georgia Steel’s “I’m loyal babes” after Josh Denzel walked in and revealed he hadn’t been that loyal after hooking up with Kaz Crossley.
Upon his return, to viewers’ disappointment, Georgia was heartbroken when he decided to dump her, despite the fact that she’d handled it like a pro … see you later in the episode.
She later unleashed her anger when, when Josh tried to get close to her, she remarked, “Don’t even touch me, man!”
Michael Griffiths leaves ‘childlike’ Amber Gill heartbroken when he instantly becomes a meme – 2019
The Georgia Josh situation repeated itself once more when Michael Griffiths reconnected with Joanna Chimonides, leaving Amber Gill alone.
The couple then had a couple of explosive arguments, one of which turned Michael into a meme overnight when he branded her “childish.”
It wasn’t just Michael and Amber’s faces that were worth watching, although the horrified reactions from the likes of Maura Higgins and Anna Vakili were priceless.
In the end, however, Amber needn’t have worried as much as she won the show as a couple with Greg O’Shea. Swings and carousels, we guess.
Lillie Haynes tells Millie Court the truth about Liam Reardon’s Casa Cupid antics – 2021
Speaking of winners… last year’s crowned couple had their fair share of Casa Amor drama as Liam Reardon returned for the Millie Court single, but Lillie Haynes revealed the truth when the time came.
When Liam returned alone from Casa Amor, Millie was thrilled to be reunited with him before Lillie entered the mansion, revealing that not only did she have a connection with Liam, but that they had kissed outside of challenges.
Millie was distraught over the revelation as Liam tried to convince her that he was committed to her.
Things got even more dramatic when Millie and Lillie met separately and Lillie got a chance to tell her side of the story.
However, to the surprise of viewers, Millie decided to stick with Liam and they actually won the show.
Faye Winter lashes out at Teddy, sparking record number of complaints at Ofcom – 2021
Perhaps the most dramatic moment of last year’s season was Faye Winter’s explosive fall out with Teddy Soares after they reunited at Casa Amor after witnessing a misleading postcard.
Faye was furious after receiving the postcard showing Teddy kissing one of the Casa Amor bombs
What she didn’t know was that Teddy had remained loyal the whole time and only kissed one of the new girls for a game.
Not long after, the islander blew up after the contestants were played a clip by Teddy telling Clarisse Juliette he was attracted to her while he was at Casa Amor.
In the video, he told Clarisse that he was “technically single” during a flirtatious exchange, and the pair were also shown kissing during the aforementioned challenge.
After the footage played, Faye expressed her disgust at what she had seen, later telling him, “I know my worth and for me this is done.”
Viewers were worried and shaken, with many saying ITV should not have covered the scenes and Faye later apologized for her behaviour.
TV watchdog Ofcom confirmed that a staggering 24,763 people complained after the scenes in question aired.
Ofcom also confirmed it has received 4,330 complaints after Faye and Teddy were left on the rocks thanks to the Casa Amor postcard, with the majority of complainants saying it was “misleading and causing unnecessary stress”.
Amy Hart declares her love for Curtis Pritchard only to be left heartbroken – 2019
During their stay at the villa in 2019, things were looking up for Amy Hart and Curtis Pritchard, although he preferred making the whole villa their morning coffee rather than sharing some morning snuggles in bed with Amy.
They then broke up in one of the most-cited moments in the program’s history.
Though Curtis seemed to develop a genuine affinity for each other on the show, Curtis threw a wrench into the work after meeting Jourdan Riane at Casa Amor.
Little did he know, however, that Amy had planned to tell Curtis that she loved him upon his return.
Like a horror movie, viewers watched between their fingers as Curtis dropped the bombshell and got Amy to tell him, “I came here to tell you that I love you.”
We don’t think there’s been a more awkward moment since — well, aside from Curtis’ stand-up and then his Hollyoaks cameo.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
