Louis Saha tells Man Utd not to spend £100m on disruptive players | Soccer

Ten Hag are in the process of rebuilding the Red Devils and of course the club have been linked with a whole host of players from around the world but are yet to make a signing this summer.
Much has been written about United’s failings in the transfer market since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, with the club spending around £1.2bn on players and having little to show for it in return.
Therefore, Saha believes United must change their approach immediately if they want to compete with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
“Man United have to make the right decisions and sign the right players for the club,” the former France international told BoyleSports Odds Betting.
“It is very important not to panic buy. Those responsible for signings need to ensure that the philosophies are right at the club and that the players who come through the door are committed to the project.
“It doesn’t matter how much you spend, it’s all about quality. You don’t have to spend £100m on a player who will disrupt your club.
“They don’t have to worry about being left behind by their rivals. Obviously the big teams will attract big names but every team has issues to contend with and United shouldn’t hit the panic button.
United have made a habit of buying big-name players who couldn’t justify their astronomical fees, including the likes of Angel Di Maria, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, who have all left Old Trafford on huge losses.
Bruno Fernandes is the only big-money post-Ferguson that can be counted as a success, while the jury awaits several current United stars, including Harry Maguire, Fred and Jadon Sancho, who could improve significantly under Ten Hag’s coaching.
Saha’s comments come at a time when Ten Hag are trying to push through a move for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong which could cost around £70m, making him United’s fourth-most expensive signing of all time.
