A young footballer has shared a horrific image of his bloodied girlfriend, who he says was attacked in an unprovoked attack in Nottingham this weekend.
Louie Sibley released images of the alleged attackers and a statement in which he blasted the “coward of a man” who took his girlfriend to the hospital.
The Derby County midfielder, 20, claimed his unnamed partner was assaulted and stitched up several times by a man and woman.
The picture shows a young woman with a bloody nose and mouth.
Another shot, apparently from CCTV, shows a man in a white T-shirt and sneakers with blue jeans raising his hand.
In the statement on Twitter, Sibley wrote: “In the early hours at 2am my friend was attacked several times in Nottingham on Upper Parliament Street by a man and a woman.
“She ended up in the hospital and had to have stitches because of the man who hit her and knocked her unconscious. That coward of a man attacked such an innocent girl. He even dragged her to the ground and threw her against the wall before he hit her.”
The footballer, who has represented England at age group level, continued: “After that, when she wasn’t looking, he hit her and left her unconscious.
“The women he was with kept trying to attack them and even attacked them when the man was dragging them to the ground. The man and women ran away after leaving them unconscious. This was an unprovoked attack which was recorded and is now the subject of a police investigation.
“They must both be found! How can a grown man attack a girl like that and get away with it?’
Sibley, who played 14 times for Wayne Rooney’s relegated Derby County in the Championship last season, concluded: “Please share this and if anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.
“Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
Nottingham Police have confirmed the incident is being investigated.
