Los Angeles: Man ‘with machine gun’ opens fire after Chinese New Year party

Several people were shot dead after Chinese New Year celebrations in California.
Footage released to social media shows deserted, cordoned off streets in Monterey Park, about seven miles from downtown Los Angeles, after a man opened fire with a “machine gun.”
Filming took place after 10 p.m. local time near the location of a Chinese New Year party The LA Times reported.
Tens of thousands of people had attended the annual festival, which was due to end just an hour before the attack.
Seung Won Choi, owner of Clam House, said three people burst into his seafood restaurant and told him to lock the door.
They told him there was a gunman with a machine gun who had several rounds of ammo on him so he could reload.
Mr Choi said he believes the shooting took place at a dance club across the street from his shop
It’s unclear how many people were shot or if anyone died, but footage shows people being taken to hospitals.
Police have not commented on the attack and it is not known if any suspect is in custody.
