Lorde and Marlon Williams give New Zealand Aid Concert

Following the tragic disaster of Cyclone Gabrielle, New Zealand is in the midst of an attempt to rebuild. Musicians are offering their help this Friday, February 24th with a charity concert called ŌTAUTAHI 4 AOTEAROA. The list includes Lorde, Marlon Williams, LAB, Neil Finn, Lee Mvtthews, PRINS and Supergroove.

Yesterday (February 19) Lorde made an Instagram story to cancel previous shows she had in New Zealand NZ Herald. “For the past week I have been following the ongoing devastation at Hawke’s Bay. In line with the advice of the venue, police and our promoter, I think it is right to reschedule our shows in Hawke’s Bay,” she wrote. “This is a postponement at this time, not a cancellation – I’m working on something and you’ll be hearing from me soon.”

She continued, “I’d love to be with you right now, but I can also read the room, and taking away valuable resources from those who need them right now isn’t.”

All proceeds from the event will go to the New Zealand Red Cross Disaster Fund. The show takes place at Christchurch Town Hall on Friday 24th February. Ticket information can be found here.
