London: People rushed past police cordons to see the New Year’s fireworks

This is the troubling moment a crowd broke through the cordon without tickets to the New Year’s Eve fireworks display in London.
Videos shared on social media show police officers and stewards at the official event failing to stop the gatecrackers.
A statement from the force said: “Unfortunately, some unticketed groups attempted to aggressively push past hoards and fences.
“Officials worked quickly under difficult circumstances to assist the stewards and ensure the safety of people inside and outside the ticketing areas.”
Eight people were arrested in central London during the evening.
These included sexual assault, assaulting a rescue worker and possession of an assault weapon.
