London Marathon 2022 live tracker app: how to follow your friends
Time to dust off your trusty sneakers and put on your lycra leggings – the 2022’s London Today, October 2nd, the marathon takes place.
While the fitness buffs and charity fundraisers among us will trek 26.2 miles across central London, many more will simply watch from the safe haven of the sidelines.
But if you have a loved one running the marathon, is there another way to keep track of their progress?
It really does exist and it’s called: The Official TCS London Marathon App.
This allows you to see where individual runners are at all times as they make the hour-long journey to the finish line.
Here’s what you need to know.
How to use London Marathon 2022 live tracker app
Yes, the TCS London Marathon app is a live tracker.
The participant must download the app on their device via the Apple App Store and Google Play.
They must enter their booking reference number, as well as an email address and date of birth.
Finally, the final step is to enable GPS tracking on the device. This should be done well in advance of the race as the cut-off for the GPS feature is 15 minutes before the start time.
However, you can’t just go in and follow them – the participant has to approve your email address in the app.
To ensure you can follow their route that day, give them up to two email addresses for approval before the race begins.
Enter them into the app and you should be good to go.
It’s also important to note that while this is a great feature, it only works if you have a GPS signal.
The map should update every two minutes when the signal is strong, but it may not update on demand.
