Local photographer raises awareness of digital technology

ST. LOUIS – Myrina Renaissance, a professional photographer based in the St. Louis area, is raising awareness of digital technologies called NFTs, or non-fungible tokens.
Renaissance says NFTs are used to certify the authenticity and ownership of items sold online, including services, music and art, with a unique identifier stored on a blockchain that cannot be duplicated, copied or replaced.
Focused on capturing images of successful Black women past and present, Renaissance is passionate about raising awareness of NFTs. In fact, she recorded a TEDx talk in St. Louis on the subject. The TEDx talk in St. Louis is titled “NFTs: Not Just A Buzz Word.” Renaissance will host a TEDx Watch Party for her talk on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heydays Headquarters, 3139 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63103.

Renaissance says the event will also feature cool shirts and other merchandise for purchase, a fireside Q&A, and a preview of the documentary that was recorded of the process leading up to her TEDx talk in St. Louis, which in her opinion also underlines importance of self-evaluation.
“How do we use that mindset to build our own self-worth to then be able to sell people our products or services or whatever?” renaissance said. “I think it comes from a space where we know who we are first and build the community around us.”
