ALLSTON, MASS. (WHDH) – A local doctor is thanking the owner of an Allston pawnshop after his quick thinking led to the recovery of a stolen sentimental necklace he feared he would never see again.
Hoping to retrieve the necklace his mother gave his father when he entered medical school, the doctor said he went to the LBC Boutique pawn shop on Commonwealth Avenue with a flyer with a photo of the beloved piece of jewelry.
“I dropped off the pictures of the necklace which is quite noticeable hoping the person would stop by and obviously the person stopped by about an hour later,” the doctor told 7’s Lisa Gresci.
The owner of the pawn shop said he stopped a man trying to sell it and called the doctor to say he had it.
“From the time I lost it to the time I got it back, there was always this doubt that I might never see it again. It didn’t feel real until I actually put it back on,” he said, adding that his mom gave it to him when he entered medical school.
“I haven’t taken it off since,” he said. “And I don’t think I will.”
