Liverpool will not finish in the Premier League top 4 this season and miss out Champions League football, William Gallas boldly predicted.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were on track to record an unprecedented quadruple last season but opted for a domestic cup double after missing out on the Premier League title by a point and finishing second in the Champions League .

Liverpool have finished in the top four for the last six straight seasons after lifting the 2019-20 title in their first top-flight trophy in 30 years.

They finished second in 2018/19 and 2021/22 – both times just a point behind Manchester City –, third in 2020/21 and fourth in 2016/17 and 2017/18.

Klopp’s side were held in their opening game in the Premier League by newly promoted Fulham with former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Gallas, who won two Premier League titles with the Blues and tipped the Merseyside club to win the first this season to miss four.

“As a former London player I have to say Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham to win the Premier League,” said Gallas Genting Casino.

“Liverpool can be missing from the top four because they don’t have Sadio Mane anymore and Luis Diaz doesn’t have the same influence.

“Liverpool always concede goals as we saw against Fulham. Even though I like how Liverpool play, I think it will be City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Klopp has been hugely successful at Liverpool since arriving as boss in 2015, delivering Champions League triumphs alongside Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup triumphs.

In total, he has guided Liverpool to three Champions League finals and won the Super Cup and Club World Cup in 2019.

Meanwhile, Liverpool remain confident they can deal with a growing injury crisis in midfield and are unlikely to make the move to Sporting Lisbon’s Matheus Nunes.

The Reds return to the Premier League on Monday when they host Crystal Palace at Anfield.
