Liverpool need to increase their offer for Calvin Ramsay in a bid to convince Aberdeen to sell the teenage full-back.

This is from a report by Daily Mail, who explain the Dons are aiming for a bigger upfront payment than the £4million the Reds have agreed to so far.

The report adds that the Pittodrie club are asking a total of £5m this summer, with subsequent surcharges for each deal that could reach up to £8.5m.

Ramsay, 18, made his Scottish Premiership debut in the 2021/21 season before becoming a first-team regular at the start of last season. He has now made 39 senior appearances in total, including European experience in UEFA Nations League qualifiers, scoring one goal.

Liverpool are understood to be in the market for covering for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back and Ramsay is the player Jurgen Klopp and the club’s recruitment team have identified as a first-choice target.

Wales international Neco Williams has served as Alexander-Arnold’s understudy in recent years but the 21-year-old was loaned to Fulham in January and will leave at his highest tally this summer after helping his international side for the upcoming FIFA Qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar.

The Reds are undergoing a significant roster refresh this summer, with younger players brought in to revitalize a squad whose average age has been steadily increasing.

Teenage striker Fabio Carvalho has already signed a preliminary contract with the Reds and will join Anfield from Fulham this summer after helping Marco Silva’s side secure promotion from the Championship to the Premier League as division champions.

Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is set to be confirmed as a new Liverpool player shortly after the Reds agreed a deal with the Portuguese club that could eventually rise to £65million.

The Uruguayan striker is set to replace Sadio Mane, who is set to make frequent moves to Bayern Munich this summer.
