Liverpool in talks with Nottingham Forest for £15m transfer | Soccer

The 21-year-old has scored twice in 14 games but is unlikely to remain at Anfield despite his progress as teenage Scotland right-back Calvin Ramsay was signed by Jurgen Klopp earlier this summer.

The former Aberdeen player is set to act as an understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold, which was the squad role Williams previously filled before temporarily joining Marco Silva’s side.

Now the Telegraph reports that Nottingham Forest have shown an interest in securing William’s signature after they rose to the top flight for the first time in the 21st century after beating Huddersfield in the play-off final at Wembley.

Williams has made 33 first-team appearances for Liverpool since making his debut in a penalty shoot-out win over Arsenal in 2019, but just eight came before his loan move in the first half of last season.

Fulham are said to retain an interest in Williams but forest manager Steve Cooper is confident he can strike a deal.

Forest are also looking to complete two new signings from the Bundesliga, including another ex-Liverpool youngster.

Cooper has identified Union Berlin’s Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi as his primary attacking target and a club record £17.5m has been agreed. Mainz defender Moussa Niakhate is also being courted, but an opening offer is said to have been rejected.
