Liverpool could miss out on transfer target Raphinha as the Leeds United winger prefers a move Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.
The Sport daily say both clubs are interested in singing the Brazil international but that he prefers a move to the Nou Camp to Anfield and has made his wish known to Agent Deco.
The report adds that the 25-year-old has always dreamed of playing for the Blaugrana and is determined to be at the center of head coach Xavi Hernandez’s advances to turn the tide of the club.
Raphinha has spent the last two seasons in Yorkshire helping Leeds maintain their place in the Premier League under first Marcelo Bielsa and most recently Jesse Marsch. He has scored 17 goals in 67 appearances in all competitions and has scored three of nine goals for Brazil since his international debut in 2021.
His move to Leeds took place for a season at Sporting Lisbon in the Liga NOS and Stade Rennais in Ligue 1.
Far from the pace in La Liga last season, Barcelona fell to the Europa League in European competition, where they were eliminated by eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.
Their relegation was partly due to the loss of Argentine legend Lionel Messi, who left on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021 after the club were unable to renew his contract due to financial constraints.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will also be in the market for at least one forward this summer as Sadio Mane is expected to leave the club after six years. The Senegalese striker is out of contract in a year and has told the club he would like to leave before the start of next season.
Bayern Munich have rejected an opening £21million offer for the 30-year-old but are likely to return with a raised offer.
