Liverpool have confirmed the departure of seven players this summer, including Reds hero Divock Origi and goalkeeper Loris Karius.
Origi, who wrote his name in Anfield history with a string of major goals for the club, is expected to sign for AC Milan once his contract expires at the end of June.
The Belgium international scored 41 goals in his 175 appearances for the club, with his brace in the dramatic comeback Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League semifinals and the goal in this year’s final are arguably among the most memorable.
Karius, on the other hand, will have less fond memories of the Champions League, which put in a flawed performance that contributed to Liverpool’s 2018 final defeat Real Madrid.
Sheyi Ojo and Ben Woodburn will also leave the Reds in the summer when their contracts expire at the end of the month.
As for the academy players, the club have confirmed that Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Luis Longstaff and Sean Wilson will depart.
Speaking about Origi in May, Jurgen Klopp branded the striker a Liverpool legend.
“Wherever he goes, he will be 100 per cent successful,” said Klopp.
“He is and will always be a Liverpool legend for me, one of the most important players I’ve ever had.
“It may sound strange given the amount of games he’s had, but it’s been a sheer pleasure to work with.”
